Облик любого здания формируется множеством деталей, на которые неподготовленный зритель обычно не обращает внимания, если все они подобраны удачно.
Но хотя бы один неудачно подобранный архитектурный элемент может разрушить весь тщательно выстроенный образ. Один из наиболее важных элементов фасада, которому зачастую не уделяют должного внимания – козырёк. Помимо эстетической, козырёк выполняет и практическую задачу, защищая крыльцо и вход в здание от непогоды. Правильно и грамотно выбранный козырёк станет украшением любого фасада.
Но подходить к выбору козырька следует с осторожностью. Козырёк должен изготавливаться с учётом особенностей здания, его стиля. Металлический навес с тяжёлыми коваными элементами будет смотреться "диковато" над входом в современное здание. А выполненный в стиле "хай-тек" козырёк из стекла и нержавеющей стали может совершенно разрушить ансамбль старинного особняка.
Именно поэтому работу над каждым козырьком следует начинать с качественного, выполненного профессионалами дизайн-проекта.
Современные козырьки могут изготавливаться из самых разных материалов. Каркас может быть изготовлен из алюминия, обычной или нержавеющей стали. В последнее время всё большую популярность приобретает нержавейка, поскольку ее использование придает козырькам особенно современный, «высокотехнологичный» вид.
Покрытие козырьков также может быть выполнено из разных материалов. Часто для покрытия козырька используется стекло, но существуют и другие материалы. Ещё один вид покрытия козырьков, отличающийся практичностью и устойчивостью - триплекс, или многослойное стекло (несколько слоёв силикатного стекла, разделённые полимерной плёнкой, удерживающей осколки в случае повреждения стекла).
